70-958 Tool Rest Base is the identical assembly that is supplied with the 70-3040 lathe. For utilize on the lower bed when the lathe’s sliding bed is extended for turning spindles. This second tool rest (with height extender), along with the other supplied base on the sliding bed, permits turning along a full 40” long spindle by switching gouges between the two rests. Incorporates base assembly only, without tool rest or tool rest height extension.

• 70-958 Tool Rest Base with design specific clamping mechanism only fits the RIKON 70-3040 lathe. Not suitable for other lathe models.
• Fully made of Cast iron and steel components for extra strength and durability.
• Tool rest base casting measures 19-3/4″ long x 4″ wide x 2-3/4″ high (7-1/2″ high at top of tool rest holder). The thick front locking handle extends out an additional 4-1/4″, to create the full tool rest base length at 24″.
• Tool Rest Base is bored to take Tool Rests with 1″ diameter posts.
• Adjustable spring loaded, side Lever Handle secures tool rests in place on the base.
• Tool Rest Base’s Locking Handle assembly utilizes an extra large, rectangular machined steel bottom plate to securely hold the Base in place on the lathe bed. Locking handle easily releases and clamps the Tool Rest Base in position for turning.
